Activity:  This was a group workshop, organized by UAL, exploring the concept of Stuckness by using Lego serious play.

 

The metaphor of a tower was used to express the creative process.

We were asked to construct first a tower, and then relate it to our feelings around our practice.  After a group discussion we could then modify our structures to reflect our individual approach to learning, highlighting areas of Stuckness.

 

Outcomes: The exercise encouraged us to share our feelings about being creatively stuck and provided useful strategies for moving forward.  As this was such a successful workshop a symposium may be set up to further explore Stuckness. The workshop has encouraged me to think in a different way when feeling overwhelmed or at an impasse in my work.
